the CURRENT SESSIONS
at wild project, NYC
March 8th, 2014

rise (2012-2014) is a solo site-situated dance piece originally set for the Brooklyn Bridge Park on a series of large granite steps. The site is a collision of several environments and architectural structures, including the east river, the rural setting of the park, the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, and the granite steps, which feel as though they are from an ancient era. The work is inspired by the intersection of these elements, where city meets nature, ancient past meets present moment, and body meets environment. Specific and imbued small twig/branches are also used, pointing back to nature, becoming an extension of the dance.

For the CURRENT SESSION'S, rise was re-imagined for the indoor lobby and theater space of wild project, NYC.
