Dance Art | The Sacred Body | Ritual, Trance, Dance, Magic


Maré Hieronimus is an interdisciplinary dance artist creating ritually-grounded performance work that integrates her deep somatic sense, the creation of sacred space, and an honoring of the passages of life through a woman’s voice.

Her life as a dance performance artist has taken her across the US, and to four continents. She is the recipient of a Playa Summer Lake Artist Fellowship, a Djerassi Artist in Residence, an E|MERGE Artist in Residence, and a Maryland State Arts Grant in Choreography. She has been a guest-teaching artist at Bucknell University, University of Maryland College Park, and Long Island University, among other locations.

Maré received her BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design, her MFA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence, and is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban Institute of Movement Studies. She is also a certified Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga Teacher, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor, Postpartum Doula, and is always continuing her studies in earth wisdom with various teachers and healers. She recently relocated from New York City to New Mexico with her husband, documentary filmmaker Jeremy Frindel, and their son Dylan Rama.
